DSS Custom Builds created a moving prize carousel for a Velocity rewards activation. Mystery rewards travelled from the back of the display to the front on customised conveyor belts, framed by a branded wall, illuminated openings and a curved finish.
A custom conveyor system on a short timeline
The build called for a working carousel that felt like part of a travel-themed experience. With a short production window, DSS sourced conveyor sections custom-made for the project in China and had them airfreighted to Australia.
Once the sections arrived, the workshop adapted them to the display. Guard rails were removed or repositioned, while power boxes and wiring were moved toward the front so they could be accessed after the surrounding structure was completed. Prizes loaded at the back could then travel around to the visitor-facing front.
Building around the moving parts
DSS built a form-ply wall with openings for the prizes to pass through. Form ply also formed the inner deck and shelf around the conveyor. The team routed timber components to house red lamps around the openings, then connected the lamps to an indicator relay to create a flashing sequence.
HIPS was shaped and sanded around the curved front skirts. ACM composite board smoothed the track surrounds. Branded decals, LED strips along the front and a screen with suitcase imagery completed the display.
The finished display
The completed carousel combined moving conveyors, custom fabrication, graphics and lighting in one branded activation. Rewards travelled through the lit openings and around the front beneath the “1POINT REWARDS CAROUSEL” backdrop.
