Reception Signs & Office Signage Melbourne
Your reception sign is the first thing clients see when they walk in, and the last thing they see on the way out. DSS makes reception signs and office signage for Melbourne businesses at our Frankston workshop, from a 3D logo on the feature wall to door signs, directories and wayfinding across the floor.
We make the sign and can arrange installation, so you deal with one team from design to fitting.
What counts as reception and office signage?
Office signage covers everything that tells people who you are and where to go inside a building. The pieces most Melbourne offices ask us about are:
- Reception logo signs: your name or logo on the wall behind the desk, usually in 3D.
- Feature walls: larger brand statements, values or project names, in letters, cut-out shapes or printed panels.
- Door and room signs: meeting rooms, offices, amenities.
- Directory and tenant signs: lobby boards for shared buildings.
- Wayfinding: arrows and floor or level numbers so visitors can find their own way.
- Window and glass graphics: privacy film, frosted bands and branding on meeting room glass. See window signage.
Reception sign styles
3D letter and logo signs
Individual letters or a cut-out logo, fixed to the wall with a small gap or flush, are the most common reception sign. Materials include acrylic, painted or brushed metal, and foam-based board, finished to match your brand. Our 3D lettering page covers the options in detail.
Illuminated reception signs
Halo-lit and edge-lit letters add a soft glow behind or around the lettering, which looks good in a lit lobby and makes a strong impression in the evening. For a more playful look, custom neon signs use LED neon flex bent to your logo or a short phrase.
Printed and cut feature panels
Where a brand wall needs colour, pattern or photography, we print on panel and cut to shape. Large format printing and CNC and laser cutting let us combine the two in one piece.

Real jobs behind our 3D wall work
We have made dimensional lettering for places that range from sports venues to event spaces. That includes 3D metal letters and logo for AAMI Park, and 3D letters for MECCA. The same fabrication process applies whether the wall is in a stadium or your lobby.

Reception sign materials compared
| Material | Look | Good for | Keep in mind |
|---|---|---|---|
| Acrylic | Clean, glossy or matte in many colours | Modern offices, medical and professional rooms | Can show fingerprints on gloss; keep clear of heavy knocks |
| Metal (aluminium, stainless) | Crisp and premium, brushed or painted | Corporate lobbies, long-term fit-outs | Usually a higher cost than acrylic |
| Foam-based board | Light, painted finish | Large letters, events, temporary or changing fit-outs | Not as hard-wearing as metal |
| Illuminated (halo or edge-lit) | Glow around or through the letters | Feature walls seen in low light | Needs power at the wall; plan it early |
Not sure which suits your space? Tell us the wall finish and lighting, and we will recommend what we would use.
Planning a reception sign: what to check first
- The wall: painted plasterboard, brick, timber and glass all take different fixings. Send a photo.
- Power: if you want lighting, the wiring needs to come out of the wall at the right spot, ideally before the wall is finished.
- Viewing distance: letters on a wall seen from the door need to be larger than letters read at the desk.
- Lease and building rules: in many office buildings the building manager must approve fixing to walls or glass, and tenant signs in the lobby may need to follow a building standard.
- Brand files: send your logo as vector artwork (PDF, AI or EPS) where possible.
How a reception sign job runs
- Send us a photo of the wall, the logo and rough size ideas.
- We recommend materials, depth and lighting, and give you a quote.
- You approve the design.
- We fabricate at our Frankston workshop.
- We arrange installation, or you can collect it if your fit-out team is fixing it. See installation services.
Office signs beyond the front desk
Door signs, meeting room names and wayfinding can be made in the same materials as the logo wall, so the whole floor looks like one brand. For shared buildings, ask us about an office building signage approach that covers lobbies, tenant boards and level signs. If part of the brand also needs to be seen from the street, see our illuminated signs and light boxes. If the sign needs to be read from the road, see our pylon signs page. To compare sign types first, read our Signage Melbourne guide, and for materials and depth see our 3D letters guide.
Frequently Asked Questions
How much do reception signs cost?
The price depends on size, material, lighting and the number of pieces. Send us your logo, a photo of the wall and the approximate size, and we will quote it.
Can you make a reception sign from our logo?
Yes. Vector artwork is best, but send what you have and we will tell you whether it needs redrawing.
Can you install reception signs in a leased office?
Yes, installation can be arranged. Check with your building manager first, as many buildings have rules on fixing to walls and glass.
Can the sign be lit?
Yes. Halo-lit and edge-lit letters, and LED neon, are common choices. Plan for power at the wall before it is finished.
Do you do door signs and wayfinding as well?
Yes, we can make door signs, room names, directories and level signs to match the reception sign.
